Really lovely and sexy fic with Jack and Bitty hooking up on the road during Jack's senior year at Samwell. Super hot sex and some misunderstandings that all get wonderfully resolved in the end.

I really like that the team wasn't immediately aware of the relationship too, since I feel like that's a lot more believable that the "everybody knows" trope I see a lot in this fandom. Super sweet and sexy read!

It was lovely seeing Stiles move back to Beacon Hills, watching the two of them rekindle their friendship, and then see it grow into something more. Sort of a different vibe from a lot of AUs in that most everybody has sort of grown up and apart, which made for a refreshing change of pace.

[FYI: This is a “Deleted Scene” from Sansûkh, which is an amazing Thilbo & Gigolas WIP that I highly recommend. I think you’d probably be okay to read this fic without having read Sansûkh, but it’ll make a bit more sense if you read the main fic first. It's long but SO, SO WORTH IT.]

Oh, this fic is just so wonderful! Beautifully written with fabulous characterizations and a connection between Arthur and Eames that just sizzles. There's no small amount of angst, but it makes the ending that much more satisfying when you get there. Plus the sex was seriously, seriously hot.

Title: A Thrill of Hope

This was lovely! Super adorable watching Stiles and Derek bond and become closer, and Stiles begin to realize that he's totally in love with Derek. Luckily, Derek definitely returns those feelings. Sweet and hot!

Wow, there are no words to describe the amazingness of this fic! Seriously. The time travel aspect was really interesting and well done, and the whole plot in general is very engaging. The characterizations of all of the characters are seriously fantastic, but Ronan and Adam seriously shine. Really cool seeing the younger and older versions of Adam and Ronan and how they are the same and different. Definitely a must-read!

Really fabulously dirty and gritty fic that has the Sheriff and Stiles coming under the influence of some magical aphrodisiacs and then having to deal with the consequences. The guilt and tension was really pervasive and wonderfully done. The author has promised a sequel, and I really hope they deliver because this was great!

Fun and sexy fic! Really enjoyed the role reversal here, with Eggsy having just won the lottery, and Harry as an ex-tailor, turned gentleman-for-hire. Lovely characterizations and the connection between them both was lovely. Plus some great side characters. :)

Title: And No Birds Sing

Oh goodness, this fic killed me! The writing here is gorgeous, and the longing tone of melancholy is really fabulously done. It's definitely not a fluffy fic, and the ending is not what I would call happy, but the whole thing really is so beautiful and meaningful. It's the kind of fic that will stay with you for a while.

I actually got a ton of fanfic reading done this past past month. Partly due to my plane trip, which gave me an excuse to finally read some long!fic. :D

Okay, so, this series is straight up brilliant. Now, you may not think that nearly 300k or mostly established relationship Arthur/Eames HGTV AU is really necessary, but you would be completely wrong. I love me some home improvement shows, but I don't usually get that invested in the hosts, so I was a little skeptical of this one, but it was wonderfully executed. Arthur and Eames are perfectly characterized here, and Arthur as a real estate agent and Eames as a designer is just amazing. The chemistry and interaction between these two are beyond fabulous, and the whole thing is just SUCH a joy to read. Seriously, I had the biggest smile on my face throughout, and I was laughing out loud almost every other chapter (which is saying a lot). I know it's long, but if you're an Arthur/Eames fan it's totally worth it.

Title: Keep the Car Running Series (5 Fics)

Summary: If Mycroft Holmes lived in a world where people could steal information from the subconsciouses of others, tell me he wouldn't be all over that when he had Moriarty in custody.
Super fascinating and well crafted verse that crosses over the Inception and Sherlock fandoms. The world blending is masterfully done, and it all feels very natural and believable. On top of that, we get a wonderfully interesting and creepy premise, and fabulous characterizations. Arthur and Eames are particularly spectacular here. The first fic focuses on Arthur/Eames with some John/Sherlock pre-slash action. The fourth fic focuses on Sherlock/John (with some established Arthur/Eames) and I really loved how the season three events were incorporated. I really recommend reading them in order, as there are definitely a lot of references back to the first fic. There's a super satisfying epilogue fic for Arthur/Eames, and I believe there is a Sherlock/John one coming as well, though the series reads beautifully as is.

Awesome Harry Potter AU with Harry as Eggsy's old DADA professor and Eggsy running into him while undercover. Loved the feelings here and the whole thing was super sweet.

Title: Run Away With Me

Wonderful human AU with drifter!Derek and hobo!Stiles. Great connection and banter between the two of them, and the whole thing is super hot. The ending was maybe a little rushed, but it was a fun and overall satisfying read.

One of the things I've wanted to be better about this year is cleaning out some of my "to-read" fics. I have a ton of AO3 notifications in my inbox from authors I subscribe to, and so many of those fics immediately go to my TBR pile and never see the light of day again. Really beautiful fic. I loved the gentleness here, the beautiful melancholic undertone throughout the fic. Selkie!Stiles is wonderful, and I really enjoyed him coming to terms with his bisexuality. Gorgeously written, and a truly lovely and poignant connection between Stiles and Derek.

This was a wonderful, slow burn fic, sort of a retelling of Canon. There's wolf!Derek and curses and dream sharing, and lots of wonderful, gentle pining. I just adored everybody here, and how all of the relationships are portrayed. Derek and Stiles were amazing, and their connection was just great. I also particularly enjoyed Derk and Scott's relationship here. It's like how it could have been in canon if they'd had a different start and Scott had more of a choice in the bite. Just an awesome read.

Several months ago I started thinking about my favorite fanfics. Obviously my rec lists are basically just lists of my favorite fics, but even among those, I have my favorites. The ones I read again and again, the ones I read when I need comfort, or want to feel some gut-punch feels, or want to roll around in the meant-to-be love. I decided that it was necessary to come up with a list of my most favorite of fics across all of the fandoms I read in. This was poor decision on my part. Six months later and I've finally finished, and narrowing things down was a bit more harrowing than anticipated. I ended up with almost as many fics on the honorable mentions list as I did on the Actual list, but some things can't be helped. I figured getting this up for Rectober was an admirable goal, and I'm happy I managed to get this done.

The more I've read in a fandom, the more difficult it was to narrow down, so I had an especially hard time with Harry Potter and Teen Wolf in particular. I tried to narrow it down by only letting myself chose one from a category (one creature!fic, one post-hogwarts era, etc). It was hard. Also, keep in mind that these are 100% personal opinion and totally subjective. I like what I like.

Oh this was just such a fun AU. I really love how the authors interpreted the tropes and themes and canon elements here, but gave them a fresh twist. Fabulous connection between Stiles and Derek and just generally a super enjoyable read.

(Also, a note about the past Agron/Duro, because that's not generally my thing, but it's all non-explicit and in the past. It does play a part in the story, but this is very much a Nasir/Agron fic.)

So, for the first time in several months, I actually read and liked enough Sterek in May to warrant it's own post. But just barely. I'm still on the fence with whether or not I'll watch the next season, but I'm hoping fresh canon with breath some life into that fandom. But IDK, things got so wanky that it feels like so many of my favorite people have left. :(

I read so few Sterek fics this month, it was a little sad. I think the combination of my vacation, lower fic output (especially quality stuff), and a dwindling interest in my part is to blame. I don't think it's so much that my love of the characters is diminishing, but the issues with canon, Hoechlin no longer bing a season regular, and just the fact that I've been trying to write a bit more, means TW is getting pushed more and more to the side. We'll see if the start of season 5 will revitalize things a bit. IN the meantime I have a ton of fics marked for later on ao3 to get reading!
