One of my first quarantine tasks was to organize and sort my "Marked for Later" tab on AO3. Once that was done, I decided I was going to read at least one Drarry fic (the majority of my TBR list) and one non-Drarry fic off this list every week in an effort to cut it down some! Have you seen the Kingsman movie? Because it's fucking gold. Colin Firth is lookin' fiiiine, and the actor who plays Eggsy is not only super cute and adorable, but has hella chemistry with Firth. So much cross gen goodness, so much potential for D/s and daddy!kink and all that amazingness. I am ALL about this fandom.

If you haven't seen this movie, I'd totally recommend. Super fun, and while I wish there'd been a few more women, the main women they did have were pretty awesome.

Fun and sexy fic! Really enjoyed the role reversal here, with Eggsy having just won the lottery, and Harry as an ex-tailor, turned gentleman-for-hire. Lovely characterizations and the connection between them both was lovely. Plus some great side characters. :)

Oh goodness, this fic killed me! The writing here is gorgeous, and the longing tone of melancholy is really fabulously done. It's definitely not a fluffy fic, and the ending is not what I would call happy, but the whole thing really is so beautiful and meaningful. It's the kind of fic that will stay with you for a while.

I actually got a ton of fanfic reading done this past past month. Partly due to my plane trip, which gave me an excuse to finally read some long!fic. :D

Okay, so, this series is straight up brilliant. Now, you may not think that nearly 300k or mostly established relationship Arthur/Eames HGTV AU is really necessary, but you would be completely wrong. I love me some home improvement shows, but I don't usually get that invested in the hosts, so I was a little skeptical of this one, but it was wonderfully executed. Arthur and Eames are perfectly characterized here, and Arthur as a real estate agent and Eames as a designer is just amazing. The chemistry and interaction between these two are beyond fabulous, and the whole thing is just SUCH a joy to read. Seriously, I had the biggest smile on my face throughout, and I was laughing out loud almost every other chapter (which is saying a lot). I know it's long, but if you're an Arthur/Eames fan it's totally worth it.

Super fascinating and well crafted verse that crosses over the Inception and Sherlock fandoms. The world blending is masterfully done, and it all feels very natural and believable. On top of that, we get a wonderfully interesting and creepy premise, and fabulous characterizations. Arthur and Eames are particularly spectacular here. The first fic focuses on Arthur/Eames with some John/Sherlock pre-slash action. The fourth fic focuses on Sherlock/John (with some established Arthur/Eames) and I really loved how the season three events were incorporated. I really recommend reading them in order, as there are definitely a lot of references back to the first fic. There's a super satisfying epilogue fic for Arthur/Eames, and I believe there is a Sherlock/John one coming as well, though the series reads beautifully as is.

Awesome Harry Potter AU with Harry as Eggsy's old DADA professor and Eggsy running into him while undercover. Loved the feelings here and the whole thing was super sweet.

The sex was crazy hot, and I really liked how the fic addressed the potential issues on Harry's side of things after the church massacre and being shot. Wonderful read.

This fic is super hot. Seriously. The first one was gloriously sexy, and then we have the gorgeous second fic, with some really lovely characterizations. I loved the slightly different take with the lack of angst over Harry being alive, and the lack of too much "will they, won't they" back and forth. The relationship develops more slowly, but very surely, and the whole things is lovely and super fucking hot.

Several months ago I started thinking about my favorite fanfics. Obviously my rec lists are basically just lists of my favorite fics, but even among those, I have my favorites. The ones I read again and again, the ones I read when I need comfort, or want to feel some gut-punch feels, or want to roll around in the meant-to-be love. I decided that it was necessary to come up with a list of my most favorite of fics across all of the fandoms I read in. This was poor decision on my part. Six months later and I've finally finished, and narrowing things down was a bit more harrowing than anticipated. I ended up with almost as many fics on the honorable mentions list as I did on the Actual list, but some things can't be helped. I figured getting this up for Rectober was an admirable goal, and I'm happy I managed to get this done.

The more I've read in a fandom, the more difficult it was to narrow down, so I had an especially hard time with Harry Potter and Teen Wolf in particular. God, this fic is just gorgeous! I adore he characterization here and Eggsy's reaction to Harry coming back from the dead is both heartbreaking and painfully realistic. Really beautiful build-up and some seriously hot sex!

Really cool set of fics that have Charles going back in time when he first met Erik and seducing him for the greater good. Interesting, and funny, and sexy reads!

So I'm not really a big 1D fan, nor am I all that enthusiastic about bandom fics, just because I find it harder to care about RL people in a shipping sense. But anemonen recced this, and it was an AU, so I figured I'd give it a go. I really enjoyed it! It's told primarily from Louis's POV with Zayn's POV tossed in for good measure. I really liked the characterizations and the friendships between all the boys, and how their relationships grew and evolved. I really liked that the two main relationships here were really very different, and if never felt repetitive or boring. The fic is mostly Louis/Harry as far as explicit interaction goes, though Zayn/Liam does get some screen time. I will say that the "misunderstanding because of a lack of communication" trope was almost overdone for me, but I think it was resolved just in the nick of time. Overall, I seriously hot, enjoyable read. [Also highly recommend the timestamp from Liam's POV, adorable and super sexy.]
