I feel like I was always going for where I thought I could get the most words for my buck, instead of taking the time to edit and revise and fine-tune, which is totally part of my normal process.

Yessss exactly that! I did the same thing, too. And I still haven't touched the two WIP outlines I said I wanted to spend time plotting this month. I ignored them in favor of working on fest claims and gift fics, mostly because I knew they would increase the word count since one shots are easier to work on than plotty things. I totally commend you for managing to plot and work on your ATF fic this month!

5k is definitely feeling like a huge stretch today, lol. I've mostly just been reading back through scenes to edit, so I've only managed 160 words so far today. It feels like another day that's going to take me a long time to get into the groove.
