Get Your Words Out!
Last year I participated in an awesome community called [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout, which is basically all about setting a yearly writing goal with monthly check-ins to see how you're doing. I really enjoyed playing along last year, and I plan on joining again in 2017, so I thought I'd do a quick pimp for anybody who might be interested.

You can find out more about the community here, but essentially there are 7 "levels" of participation raging from 75k words in a year to 500k. I hit my goal of 200k this past year, and I think I'm going to shoot for 250k in 2017!

There are a ton of really interesting and thought-provoking posts on writing that go up throughout the year, and there's no shortage of support if you need it.

Anyway, if you're the kind of person who likes structure and goals (like me!) then I'd totally recommend. Sign-ups are open until January 15th! :D

250k... That's an ambitious goal, but I know you thrive on a challenge and so I have no doubt you'll make it. :-)

Thanks for calling my attention to gywo. I was tempted for ten seconds because I know I get more done when I have defined goal. But to be honest, participating in some fests is enough of a challenge for me. Just checked on AO3: my average word count/year is 51k, and that's what I'm comfortable with. Forcing myself to write 25k more would probably kill the fun for me. If I write more in 2017 - fine. If I end up with 10k - also fine.

Go you, grace!
