Get Your Words Out!
Last year I participated in an awesome community called [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout, which is basically all about setting a yearly writing goal with monthly check-ins to see how you're doing. I really enjoyed playing along last year, and I plan on joining again in 2017, so I thought I'd do a quick pimp for anybody who might be interested.

You can find out more about the community here, but essentially there are 7 "levels" of participation raging from 75k words in a year to 500k. I hit my goal of 200k this past year, and I think I'm going to shoot for 250k in 2017!

There are a ton of really interesting and thought-provoking posts on writing that go up throughout the year, and there's no shortage of support if you need it.

Anyway, if you're the kind of person who likes structure and goals (like me!) then I'd totally recommend. Sign-ups are open until January 15th! :D

Congrats on reaching your 200k word goal! That's brilliant, I'm so happy for you. I love that the community helped you and was such a guiding force.

I keep debating about signing up but I'm worried I actually won't be able to keep up with it. Like, forcing myself to follow a routine or a schedule is one of the hardest things for me, I really need to work on that in general. I feel like I like the idea of being structured but then when I have to implement it or stick with it, I just can't bring myself to. Something I need to sort out and work on, for sure.

But I do like the idea of how they post so much ABOUT writing. I love posts like that so much. Maybe I will just do the smallest amount, the 75k... which is still a lot to feel like I'm promising, but maybe it's really not that bad considering how much fic I do want to complete.

Thanks so much!

Yeah, the comm is great for encouragement and check-ins, etc, but as long as you are checking in, there aren't any penalties for not hitting your goal. If that helps? It can kind of be as structured or as unstructured as you want. :D
