Grace's Top 25 Favorite H/D Fics, 2018 Version

I received an ask on tumblr yesterday asking me about my favorite Drarry fics. Some of you may remember that I made a list of my Top 25 Favorite H/D Fics in May 2014, which is more than 3.5 years ago! I've actually been thinking about posting an "updated" version of that list for awhile now, as there have been so many amazing H/D fics posted in that time, and I've also just done a lot of reading of older fic since I made that list. I obviously still love and adore all of the fics on that list, but there are a ton of fics that I've read since that have really resonated.

Some additional caveats:

I limited myself to one rec per author
I tried to really choose authors whose works I generally love, so this is also kind of an author rec list in addition to a specific fic rec list
I also tried to keep it varied in terms of length and genre, so there is a mix of long and short fic, PWP and plotty, creature!fic and eighth year, etc.
This is by no means exhaustive, and, as happened last time, I'm sure I left off some of my all time favorites
Completely subjective, obviously tailored to my personal tastes, etc. etc.

I love seeing Top-something rec lists, esp because they always get me thinking what my choices would be and that's always a fun exercise :)

Also, I thought I'd check out the first part of the Tale of Horns series, since I've never heard of it before, and .... wow. That was spectacularly hot!

Same! I love looking through people's rec list and I wish more people would do them! Though an all-time-favorites list is SO HARD to do! It honestly took ages and there were so many really excellent fics I was sad about leaving off.

And yes! Tale of Horns is basically one of the hottest fics ever. I wish it was on AO3 so more people would read it. There are so many amazing older fics that a lot of the newer fans seem to be pretty unaware of because they're not on AO3. And so much of the Drarry fandom happened before AO3 even existed!

Ahhhhh I'm so thrilled to see my story on your favourites list! Especially happy because I like that one myself, so it's lovely to know you enjoyed it.

I'm ill in bed with some vile virus so I may well wander through your other favourites. Tale of Horns is such a classic!

I LOVED that one! Though it was really hard narrowing it down to just one of yours to choose! But then again, collars... :D

I def recommend all of these, obviously! And Tale of Horns is so good! I have a feeling that might be one of the most "unknown" to a lot of the newest batch of fans, which is such a shame, because it is fantastic.

Ooh, how lovely to be included on a list like this. :) And I see many other fics I've loved reading myself, as well as a couple I've not read yet. It's really interesting to see which fic you've chosen for each author, too. For example, I love Oakstone's Solder, as well as the much-recced Twist of Fate. It's great to see it recced, too.

Haha, yes, it was really hard to choose just one fic for most of these authors! I actually almost went with Oakstone's Unexpected Turn because it's one of my fav Muggle AUs, but Solder won out in the end. :)
