What I'm Reading

What did you recently finish reading?

Trials of Fear Series by Nicky James
Each one of these books focuses on a unique phobia, and I've been slowly working my way through them for months! Finally finished and overall I quite enjoyed and appreciated the unique content for the genre.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
And another HP book done! We're moving into the longer books now and I'm getting excited! Hoping to post a thoughts/wrap-up post in a few days when I've had a chance to sit down and type it up1

Better Than People by Roan Parrish
Enjoyed this one, but not quite as much as this author's other works.

Missing Pieces Trilogy by N.R. Walker
Finally gave this one a read and devoured the whole series in two days! Memory loss isn't a trope I tend to love, so I was leery, but happily I quite enjoyed!

What are you currently reading?

Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse
Current audiobook read! This is one of the books on my HS classics list, and I'm trying to read one of them a month!

The Awakening Land Trilogy by Conrad Richter
About to start book 3 of this trilogy. I've been putting it off, but it's time...

The Five by Hallie Rubenhold
Current non-fiction read about the lives of Jack the Ripper's victims. Thanks to [personal profile] kelly_chambliss for the recommendation!

What do you think you’ll read next?

After Felix (Close Proximity #3) by Lily Morton
I love this author and this series has been great so far, but I've been dragging my feet a bit with this book as the theme isn't my favorite. Hopefully I'll still enjoy!

Screwed (Hardwood Construction #4) by K.M. Neuhold
I've really enjoyed this series though this is the book I'm probably the least looking forward to. But you never know!

Our Women on the Ground: Essays by Arab Women Reporting from the Arab World by Zahra Hankir
Next non-fiction read! My sister bought this one for us to read and it sounds really interesting!

Fanfic:
-Liar by [archiveofourown.org profile] jad (Harry Potter, Drarry)
-A Change of Heart by [archiveofourown.org profile] Ladyoftarth (ASOIAF, Brienne/Jaime)
-Of Magic & Men Series by [archiveofourown.org profile] venomedveins (Spartacus, Nagron)

I looked up Roan Parrish after seeing you mention her in your post last week, and I devoured three of her books this weekend, and am cracking through a 4th, so thank you for reccing her! (I'd love to hear which is your favourite of hers too!)

Yes!! She's definitely one of my all time favorites and one of the few authors I automatically buy whenever she comes out with something new! There's only one book of hers I've not read, and everything else has been a winner, but I think my absolute favorite is actually probably the first book of her, In the Middle of Somewhere. I also ADORE book 2 in that series. Book 3 is the one I passed on just because I knew based on reviews it wouldn't be my thing.

That was the series I read this weekend and totally agree, that first book is so great! Book 2 was great too, 3 was fine but I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as the first two.

The Riven series is also excellent, all 3 IMO. Nice and angsty, but not overwhelmingly so.

I'm part way through book one of that series at the moment, glad to hear it's a good one! Nice and angsty sounds right up my street.
