This year I participated in ![[tumblr.com profile]](https://www.tumblr.com/favicon.ico)
hd-wireless for the first time EVER, which was a lot of fun! And, as I always make a really concerted effort to try and read and comment on as much of the other entries in any fest I participate in, my July was absolutely FILLED with the Drarry bounty that this fest never fails to provide! There was a wonderful amount of variety to the entries, which you can check out on the masterlist, but here are my favorites!
Title: You Know the Feeling

Really well-written and captivating read, with wood-worker Harry low on inspiration and struggling years after the war with nightmares, until he stumbles upon a Fae who's willing to help... for a price. I loved all the characterizations here and the build between Harry and Draco was really lovely. There's a great political plot surrounding activism for creature rights and a more just restructuring of the Wizengamot, which was really interesting and a great complement to Harry starting to wake up again to the world around him and get involved. This fic flew by!

Meanwhile, on Level One, ex-Golden Boy Harry Potter is stuck in another interminable policy meeting, completely unaware of the mysterious comings and goings just three floors below. But when a giant snake emergency requires the assistance of a Parselmouth, Harry finds himself thrust, unprepared, into Draco’s weird and wonderful world – and naturally, he can’t keep away…
Really lovely fic that takes place about six years after the end of the war, with a Harry who's feeling a bit useless and adrift until he stumbles upon Draco in the bowels of the Ministry, taking care of confiscated magical creatures. The creatures here are great fun, and I really enjoyed the slow burn of seeing Harry and Draco fall for one another as Harry starts to wake up a bit and really start living. Wonderful characterizations, lovely build, and an ending that felt really wonderfully satisfying and well-earned. I did want to note that Harry's put on a bit of weight, and there's some body stuff/anti-fat bias that was fairly limited/mild in my opinion, but definitely present so do keep that in mind if that's an issue for you! But I really enjoyed this one overall and would absolutely recommend. :D

Draco will show Harry what it's like to be a swotty overachiever and Harry will show Draco what it's like to live life dangerously. It'll be fun, and really, what's the worst that could happen? It's not like Draco's going to fall in love with the guy or anything.
I'm not always drawn to first person POV, but Draco's voice here was lovely, and I really enjoyed seeing him and Harry come together in this one. They both have their issues, which feel quite realistically portrayed, and there was something just so very relatable about the story here, even with all the magic and extreme sports! Great OCs, lovely relationships, and some super hot smut with a happy ending!

Super compelling case!fic with dual timelines, one showing past Draco right after the war joining the Aurors and getting into an enemies-to-lovers situation with Harry that eventually falls apart, in counterpoint to the present day where Unspeakable Draco returns to Britain from France to join the task force set up to find Lucius, who's recent escaped from Azkaban. Draco's POV was excellent throughout as he grapples with the choices he's made and who he wants to be, and the chemistry between him and Harry jumps off the screen! Some really great OCs and relationships all around, and a really interesting case, with a very satisfying ending!
