Snowflake Challenge 2015: Day 15

Day 15: In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something fun you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it.

Okay, this is actually perfect! Because I thought of something a few days ago that I want more people to do, and now I have an excuse to ask ya'll to do it!

I'd love more people to make a fanfic likes/dislikes/preferences post. It's super helpful if anybody ever wanted to make you a secret amazing gift, but mostly I am just very nosy, and I find it so interesting seeing the likes we have in common and the ones that we don't!

I've been working on my own and it's been a lot of fun thinking about all the things I enjoy reading. So if you've been wanting to make one, but have been putting it off for some reason, now's your chance! Blame it on me! :D

Grace, what are you doing about all the other pairings and fandoms? IDK, but I have special likes and dislikes about different fandoms. OMG, I can see my list growing by the minute. Yours must be huge as well, right?

I made mine HP specific, since I figured the only people who'd be looking at it are my HP friends. Though obviously some of my likes are universal.

And I tended to focus on H/D because it's my OTP, with a few notes about likes that apply more to other HP pairings.

I have been trying to work on my own but have been failing miserably because I don't even know where to being. It's so overwhelming, and I honestly love so many things, but something that's "yes yes" for TW might be "eh" for HP, so I have to do everything multiple times. And that's not even looking at the fringe fandoms, or the fusions, or or or... gah. I really need to do it, it's just more than my brain is capable of looking at. I'm better with answering questions. *sighs*

It's definitely harder when you're in multiple fandoms! The one I've been working on is mostly HP specific, but a lot of my likes are pretty universal. It might be easier to do one that is general (like, for example, I'm a big fan of forced proximity trope across fandoms and pairings) and then sections that are fandom/pairing specific (like, I tend to enjoy MPREG in Sterek fics, but I usually don't love in HP).

Yeah, I've just been trying to figure out how to approach it, and I will forget a million things because I just don't think of tropes? It's like... I need a checklist? Also, there are pairings. And I'm sooo multi-pairing but I do have favorites and I have things that are nopes and some of my notps are really HARD notps but I will occasionally find something random that really works. So it gets confusing, I guess. It's just daunting, I guess, and I need to figure out a way to approach it so I can get it done and make it readable for other humans.

LOL, yeah, the organization is the toughest bit, especially for multi-fandom, multi-pairing shippers! But I believe in you! :D

I love looking at other people's lists :)
And I've been thinking about making one myself, but it's super hard, because I enjoy all sorts of things. There aren't many tropes that I categorically dislike, and very often it's the way a story is written that decides if I love it, rather than the specific elements in the story.
Maybe I should give it try through and see what what happens.

Yes! You should totally try it! You definitely don't have to include dislikes at all, you can just list some of your very favorite things. :D
