Yeah, me saying I'd want to do a cross-gen fest is really rather redundant. I should just stand there saying nothing. LOL.

You should totally do it:) There were other cross-gen fests in the past that I think have died out. When I'm not at work I can look some up for you. But I think it's awesome when new people get involved and start a new wave of excitement over pairings/themed fests.

If you ever need any mod-type consulting or help, PM me, I'd be more than happy to help.

You know, im not big on heavy angst either. Its more the potential for noncon im personally excited for at darkages. Thats my thing;)

Haha if I decide to try and do something I will definitely take you up on your offer! I always see you starting up new comms and fests and whatnot! :) I would really love to try and start something, but I've never done any modding, so I'm a bit nervous about starting something solo.

I wouldn't ask to comod (I have to much stuff as it is) but I could like GIVE you all the tools I've come up with over time. And then even if you don't get a comod, it will be fine anyways:) It's only overwhelming the first time ♥

I'm actually pretty good with things like this and organizing and working under pressure, but I am such a perfectionist, that I would probably let it eat up all of my time, but, there are worst things to get obsessed over I suppose ;)

YES! Bring all the cross gen! It's my favourite reading aside Harry/Draco and there's just not enough.

Agreed! Harry/Draco will always be my baby but after them I love pretty much all the cross-gen! :)

Lol, I actually said the opposite. A cross-gen fest for only fluff would bore me to tears and the thing that attracts me to cross-gen is the tension and problems intergenerational relationships bring up. A fluff-only cross-gen fest would be full of the kinds of fics that make me uncomfortable as to whether or not the writer really believes that a thirty-five-year-old and a seventeen-year-old could have an equal and healthy relationship. :|

I'd love another general cross-gen fest that allowed everything.

ETA: Okay, Amorette says my comment makes it sound like I'm okay with running a fest that excludes fluff, but not okay with one that excludes angst. So I'll clarify--fluff is the default in fandom, imo. You don't have to search for fluff. It's everywhere. So a general cross-gen fest would automatically include loads of fluff, no question. I don't think fandom needs encouragement to write more fluff, but it does to write angsty darkfic. That's my perception.

But, whatever, I'm not going to explode and die if a smooch cross gen fest occurs.

Yeah, I am definitely wanting one for al the options of cross-gen! I would want there to be both fluff and angst options because I really enjoy both. I agree that Cross-gen pairings don't read as true to me if they completely gloss over the inevitable issues that come with such a big age disparity.

Butting in because I can't contain myself but what issues are "inevitable"? I think this is why I get agitated with assumptions about cross gen because it assumes there are problems when I think it's just as likely two people the same age could be on different pages. Physical age and level of maturity aren't always in sync either.

Also, if you do decide to mod, I too, would be glad to offer advice/suggestions if you're interested.

When I say "issues" I definitely don't think it means insurmountable ones, or even ones that are that much worse or more difficult than issues a couple from the same generation would face.

In any relationship, there are always differences etc, and that tension is something I enjoy reading about. In cross gen relationships, you tend to get a different set of issues that I think is interesting to explore. Because even if emotionally/physically/maturity-wise the couple is on the same page(which I do think is perhaps slightly less likely in cross-gen, but not mandatory tension), then you can deal with external pressures. My favorite things in cross gen fics is usually not any issue within the couple via compatibility, but how they handle friends/family/society etc. reactions to them being together. The tension that arises from that I think is really interesting, and while I definitely think support from friends/family is totally possible and even probable eventually, I do believe that it's likely that there will be people in the couple's life that disapprove in someway.

Sorry, that was super long, but I definitely believe that cross gen couples can be just as successful as pairings from the same generation, there is just a different set of issues that I think carry more weight in cross-gen fics. (I'm less interested in reading about why Draco feels guilty about being with Harry the hero then why Sirius feels guilty about being with Harry, his god-son.

And I definitely would be interested in all the advice I can get! :)

TL;DR and you didn't really ask this but for me cross gen isn't a kink, it's just more pairings. So while I'd like to see something like hp_cross_fest again I'm also perfectly happy just seeing that sort of pairing in any fest.

I definitely agree that i don't really view it as a kink personally. I always leave cross-gen prompts for all-pairing fests and love reading them basically all of the time :)

Okay, my answers make me seem confused, so I feel I must explain.

I'm not really into cross-gen, and none of my favourite pairings are cross-gen. But if I was to read it, I think Trio/Next Gen would be what would interest me the most, because I don't have too many head canons for the Next Gen, as I already do for Maurader's Era. I like Teddy/Victorie and Albus Severus/Scorpius, but outside that every other Next Gen character is open.

Also, as a side pairing to Harry/Draco I like Harry/Scorpius and Draco/Albus Severus. And because of my James/Sirius head canon, I can see an unhealthy Harry/Sirius. I still don't really seek it out to read it.

Writing is completely different though. If I see a prompt that I like with a pairing I think I can make the story make sense with, then I'll write it. Especially if it is for rare characters that I have no specific head canon for.

Yeah, that totally makes sense! It can be hard to multi-ship once you get a solid head-canon in place for certain characters!

And I totally love a messed up Sirius/Harry with all the misplaced James feelings!

Agree! I have been ALL about that pairing lately! IDK if you have read, The Fields of St. Herve, but that one has a good teacher to lover type deal. Not the fluffiest of fluffy, but their relationship is pretty angst free :)
