As usual, I bounced around reading in all sorts of fandoms over the past few months, and here are a handful of favorites! We've got some of my fav fics from the recently concluded harrydracobang, several fics from writcraft because I read and commented on 40 of their fics I'd not yet read for their birthday a few weeks back, and then a bunch of other random fics! I've decided to attempt to reinstate my ~TBR backlog reading challenge~ in which I shoot to read at least one Drarry and one non-HP fic a week from my "Marked for Later" list on AO3. The Drarry fics might get paused as I'll likely sub in newer postings from hd_fan_fair as that starts posting soon, as well as all the fics I'll be reading/proofing for hd_erised, but my TBR list is getting out of control so it's time to start hacking away at it. :D

Wonderful Sherlock AU that takes place when Sherlock is a teenager. This has a very canon feel, but it essentially plays with the idea of, what if Sherlock met John sooner? How would that have changed things for him? I adore the way canon events and characters are incorporated in here, and the relationship between all of the characters is just wonderfully done. Really awesome read!

I was a little skeptical of this one, since baseball is such an American sport, and NOT one I can picture Sherlock playing, but it totally works! The author does a brilliant job with the characterizations, so it really feels like Sherlock and John playing baseball. Fun and charming read that just flew by.

Oh this is such a lovely series! Little Baby Oliver (aka Clone Sherlock) is too freaking cute, and I just adored the relationship between John and Sherlock. They figure things out relatively quickly, which means we gets lots and lots of awesome domestic, relationship goodness! Sherlock is maybe a smidgen fanon-y, but he was really wonderful in the fic, and seeing him with his new little family was fabulous.

I actually got a ton of fanfic reading done this past past month. Partly due to my plane trip, which gave me an excuse to finally read some long!fic. :D

Really lovely established relationship fic that takes place a few years down the line with Jack thinking about coming out and his future with Bitty.

Really lovely fic that takes place 10 years down the road with Jack getting a career-ending injury. Watching Jack deal with losing hockey was really wonderful, and his relationship with Bitty was too freaking sweet.

Summary: Have you ever seen "Love It or List It"? In which Arthur is the real estate agent and Eames is the designer.
Okay, so, this series is straight up brilliant. Now, you may not think that nearly 300k or mostly established relationship Arthur/Eames HGTV AU is really necessary, but you would be completely wrong. I love me some home improvement shows, but I don't usually get that invested in the hosts, so I was a little skeptical of this one, but it was wonderfully executed. Arthur and Eames are perfectly characterized here, and Arthur as a real estate agent and Eames as a designer is just amazing. The chemistry and interaction between these two are beyond fabulous, and the whole thing is just SUCH a joy to read. Seriously, I had the biggest smile on my face throughout, and I was laughing out loud almost every other chapter (which is saying a lot). I know it's long, but if you're an Arthur/Eames fan it's totally worth it.

Title: Keep the Car Running Series (5 Fics)

Summary: If Mycroft Holmes lived in a world where people could steal information from the subconsciouses of others, tell me he wouldn't be all over that when he had Moriarty in custody.
Super fascinating and well crafted verse that crosses over the Inception and Sherlock fandoms. The world blending is masterfully done, and it all feels very natural and believable. On top of that, we get a wonderfully interesting and creepy premise, and fabulous characterizations. Arthur and Eames are particularly spectacular here. The first fic focuses on Arthur/Eames with some John/Sherlock pre-slash action. The fourth fic focuses on Sherlock/John (with some established Arthur/Eames) and I really loved how the season three events were incorporated. I really recommend reading them in order, as there are definitely a lot of references back to the first fic. There's a super satisfying epilogue fic for Arthur/Eames, and I believe there is a Sherlock/John one coming as well, though the series reads beautifully as is.

Really sexy and enjoyable read that takes place after the end of the first movie and carries through the movies and beyond (with a much happier ending!) Loved the connection between Bilbo and Thorin here and there were some seriously hot scenes! Gets a bit exposition-y in some parts, but overall a fun read.

Title: Feel a Little Warmer

Thankfully, Eggsy is too busy staring in shock to actually say anything in response, because Harry then says, "Excuse my poor manners. Harry Hart. And you are?" And then extends his hand, which is how Eggsy remembers that he's not supposed to be Eggsy Unwin right now; he's actually undercover.
Awesome Harry Potter AU with Harry as Eggsy's old DADA professor and Eggsy running into him while undercover. Loved the feelings here and the whole thing was super sweet.

Title: Run Away With Me

Really beautiful, lyrical fic of Adam and Ronan coming together in a not-quite-a-dream.

Wonderful human AU with drifter!Derek and hobo!Stiles. Great connection and banter between the two of them, and the whole thing is super hot. The ending was maybe a little rushed, but it was a fun and overall satisfying read.

I was sick at the beginning of the month, which mean I had two days with nothing to do but read fic! I took the opportunity to finally read a few of the fics that had been on my to-read list for ages. It was both wonderful and immensely satisfying! Summary: They'd never talked about sex in the year they'd known each other. Well, that wasn't quite correct: Sherlock had never said a word about sex; John had bemoaned his personal dearth of it on many occasions.
I must say that I'm normally not a big fan of threesome/polyamory/open relationship type fics, so I was really unsure bout this one going into it. But, like everybody had assured me, it was brilliant. This is quite *my* Sherlock and John, but I loved them nonetheless. I adored the relationship between Sherlock and John here, the love and trust, and fear and uncertainty of the other's feelings. The sex scenes were smoking hot, but even hotter was how in control of everything Sherlock was. Even though most of the fic is John getting off with other people, Sherlock is an undeniable presence throughout the fic. I thought the ending was great, and very fitting for this Sherlock and John.

Title: Superman For Sale

Really interesting read! Definitely a little mushy in places and not always the most sophisticated, but I really enjoyed the plot, and I loved Clark and Lex's connection.

Title: Our Days of Blood and Sunset

Really beautifully written fic that deals with Nasir's understandably complex feelings about Agron's unexpected return from the dead. It all felt so realistic and believable, and it was really wonderful watching both Nasir and Agron deal with the aftermath of Agron's decision, and seeing them work their way back together.

I was still on a bit of a Sherlock kick at the beginning of this month.

I love this pairing, and it's a pretty big fandom, so there is a ton of fic out there. But it's honestly a bit overwhelming, especially for a more "casual" reader. It seems like I have to get a bit obsessed, in order to weed through all the mounds of fic to find out which ones are the gems.

Unfortunately, I'm waaay too busy with H/D and Sterek to commit to another full-time obsession. I know there is just a ton of great Johnlock stuff I've yet to read, but hopefully I'll get there someday.

I've been reading ALL about "The Johnlock Conspiracy" theory (TJLC) on tumblr and WOW are people thorough! For those of you who aren't familiar, TJLC is basically the idea that the writers of BBC Sherlock have written the entire show with the idea that eventually John and Sherlock will become a canon romantic pairing. And people have come up with a TON of analysis supporting this argument. Not sure if I necessarily believe it, but it's so interesting reading about everybody's ideas. If your interested deducingbbcsherlock on tumblr has written a ton of metas on the subject, and this one is a great place to start for an overview of why TJLCers believe Johnlock will become canon.

Either way, reading about it put me in a Sherlock mood, so I had to scamper off and find some good fic to read! And I found enough excellent ones for the fandom to warrant it's very own rectober post! :D

Still have not finished with Season 3 and it's driving me crazy. My roommate and I agreed to watch it together, but we have been so busy lately that we are never together long enough to watch it. But we are going to watch 3.02 today if it kills me!

Anyways, here are some of my favorite fics I read this month to get my Sherlock fix. I know this recs list is pretty much an ode to BeautifulFiction, but I read one of her stories and it was so fantastic that I basically binge read all of her Johnlock fics. I'm not sorry.
